Lasinga Koloamatangi appears in our current sampler of the upcoming production of The Gathering Place. Born in Tonga. Lasinga is a singer, dancer and performer who has lived in Fiji, Hawaii, Connecticut and now is residing in Hamburg Germany. Lasinga Graduated from University of Hawai’i (1988 MMus Voice Tenor) where he performed with the Hawai’i Opera Theater (1985-87 as soloist and chorus). He was a guest Soloist for Royal Hawaiian Band (Aaron Mahi, conductor) and with the Hawai’i Opera Chorus.
In 1995 Lasinga traveled to Germany to perform in “Miss Saigon” and stayed with the show until it closed in December 1999.
Other work includes performing in the Walt Disney production of “Der Glöckner von Notre Dame” directed by James Lapine (Hunchback of Notre Dame, 2000 until it closed 2002 in Berlin Potsdammerplatz). He has performed at the same venue in Berlin in “Cats” as a cover for Old Deuteronomy and Gus the Theater Cat, (2002-2004) then continued with German, Switzerland tour of “Cats” 2004 that ended in München (Munich) in 2006.
Lasinga is a member of the World Premier “Der Schuh des Manitu” in Berlin at the Theater des Westerns, in the ensemble and as Listiger Lurch 2008 – 20010. Until 3 weeks ago he was with a production of CATS touring German speaking cities which will close on June 16th in Graz, Austria.
